Impact Sync joins Global Alliance of NGOs For Road Safety

Impact Sync Ghana has taken its community-led road safety work to a global network, with a message that starts inside the trotro: speak up, save lives. The organisation has now joined the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, an international network connecting civil society organisations working to prevent road deaths and injuries.

Announced by the Alliance on 2 October 2026, the membership recognises Impact Sync’s work using data-driven advocacy, innovative campaigns and strategic partnerships to empower communities and drive sustainable change.

“Road safety cannot be left to enforcement agencies alone. We all have a part to play. Sometimes, it starts with something as simple as a passenger speaking up when a driver is putting lives at risk,” says Yaw T.K. Odoom, Executive Director (Strategy & Programmes) at Impact Sync.

Through Kasa for Safety, the organisation uses stickers in commercial vehicles to encourage conversations about safer driving. The approach brings road safety education into an everyday setting, reminding passengers and drivers that preventing crashes is a shared responsibility.

For Akosua Afriyie Osei-Appaw, Executive Director (Operations), joining the Alliance creates an opportunity to learn from other organisations and bring Ghana’s experiences into the global road safety conversation.

“People experience road safety challenges differently, but the consequences can affect entire families and communities. We want to support practical solutions that meet people where they are, while learning from others working towards the same goal,” she says.

The membership comes at a time when Ghana continues to grapple with road crashes and their devastating effects on families and communities. Addressing the problem requires more than public awareness campaigns; it demands safer infrastructure, effective enforcement, responsible driving and active public participation.

For Impact Sync, the next step is to strengthen partnerships and expand the reach of practical, community-driven interventions.

The message is simple: road safety is not just the responsibility of the person behind the wheel. Everyone has a role to play.

And sometimes, making a journey safer begins with having the courage to speak up.
